Short Story

Tue Jul 21, 2009, 8:35 PM
The rain lands softly on the leaves of the surrounding trees. The clouds embrace the glorified mountains that rise off the lakes. He moves, slightly, as if not to disturb a ghost, a spirit of his past, something horrible and hidden deep in his soul. He glances up at the sun peeking from behind the dark, low clouds. His mind encloses around his heart, deepening his shame and sorrow with thoughts of the past. He stands, still staring blankly at the freezing lake, he takes his shame and leaves his pride at the banks as he starts for home.
His dreams are blank as he finally sleeps, waking up every so often with wandering thoughts. Tears gently kiss his cheeks until they fall silently onto the pillow. His thoughts lead him through the trees that reach out as if to take his soul and leave his body, and then they disappear as the trail ends near the same lake he was at earlier. He sets foot in the freezing water, and he does not stop until his lung can intake no more air. The wicked poison, controlling his mind, made him not leave but his pride, but three more important elements of his life. Now he joins them under the surface, his feet bound by pain, his heart weighted by love and sorrow, and in the darkness it feels somewhat more welcoming. He lies, unforgiven and alone.

If you were killed today, I'm sorry I wouldn't be able to come to
your funeral, because I'd be in jail for killing the person who did
    it.

First, I wanted to let you know that I love you to death & think
    you are amazing!

Second, if I don't get this back I understand...

I have a game for you. Once you read this letter, you must send it to
14 people that you really care about, including the person that
sent it to you. If you receive at least 7 back then you are
    luved
